WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT? When you pull onto our campus, you’ll be directed to our main parking lot by signs until you meet our friendly parking crew. Come in one of our main entrances and identify yourself as a first time guest to any member of our Welcome Team or Welcome Center volunteers. They'll be able to answer any questions that you have while helping you find your way. [Do you have kids? If so, read below in the What's Available For My Children section.] Restrooms are found near every main entrance for your convenience. Grab a coffee or tea in the cafe and checkout our Resource Center and Welcome Center. If you have any questions, members of our Welcome Team (look for the blue shirts!) can assist you. Countdown screens in the lobby keep you informed about the start time of worship. As you enter the worship center, our greeting team and ushers provide a bulletin for you, and offer assistance directing you to your seat. Sit back and get ready to engage in passionate vertically-focused worship and bold application-based preaching of God’s Word!
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? We focus on the heart more than the outward appearance. When you come to one of our weekend services, you will find people dressed in a wide variety of styles from as casual as jeans or shorts, to as formal as suits and dresses.
WHAT'S AVAILABLE FOR MY CHILDREN? If you have children between the ages of newborn through sixth grade, head over to one of our many Children's Ministry check in stations to learn more about our exciting and secure children's areas. Your kids will enjoy age appropriate programming while you worship in the adult service. Our HARVEST KIDS ministry offers secure rooms while featuring a parent pager system to notify you if your young child needs attention. The first time that you bring your children, please register them at our Children's Check in with one of our volunteer workers. Any usher, greeter, or team member can direct you there.
In our Nursery, we offer childcare for children from birth to 24 months. Our Early Childhood begins at 2 years and goes through to Pre-Kindergarten. We offer an age-appropriate, structured program of worship songs, a Bible lesson with engaging visuals, games and a snack. There will also be some free time for play. Your kids are going to love it!
For students in Elementary School (K-Gr.4) we offer a life-application oriented study of God’s Word complete with worship, Small Groups, and a Bible lesson.
Our Elementary School ministry for fifth and sixth grade students begins in the adult worship center and until the sermon begins (about 10:35AM) when they are dismissed to go to their class for their Bible lesson.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE WORSHIP SERVICE? Our service begins with worship in song, led by a live band. Most people stand during this time, though you are welcome to just sit and "take it all in". The words of all of the songs are projected onto screens for your participation. The style of our worship here at Harvest would best be described as high energy and passionate but always grounded and driven by the Truth of God's Word.
Like most churches we take an offering in our service. If you are a guest, we welcome you to participate in the offering only as God prompts you, but please don’t feel any pressure from us. This offering is primarily intended for those who consider Harvest their church home.
During our time of brief announcements, you'll see a black Friendship Register come down the row. Please take a minute to let us know more about you and/or your family and how we can be praying for you or serving you in any way. The Friendship Register is simply a way for us to know you were here and how to connect with you. You will not be singled out or asked to stand or raise your hand or anything else embarrassing so you can relax and enjoy the service. There's no reason to feel uncomfortable!
Harvest provides practical Bible messages that help you deal with real life issues. Pastor Ken preaches from the English Standard Version (ESV) but there's no reason not to bring whatever version of the Bible you use. We'll even give you a handy outline with the main points and Bible verses. What you learn on the weekend, you'll be able to use during the week.
Children up to and including Grade 4 go directly to their Higher Ground Kids class prior to the service. Grade 5 and 6 children spend the worship time in the service with their parents and then are dismissed to their Harvest Kids classes before the message.
After The Service, if you’re a first time guest at Harvest Bible Chapel we want to meet you! Please stop by GUEST CENTRAL in the lobby to meet a member of our pastoral staff. If you have any initial questions about what you've seen or heard at Harvest we would love to answer those questions for you. We look forward to meeting you! Also, don't feel that you have to hurry out the door. Why not grab a coffee and give our friendly church family a chance to meet you. And don't forget to pick up your children from HARVEST KIDS' class before you leave!
SO, ONE SERVICE AND THAT'S IT FOR THE WEEK? Not exactly. At Harvest we really enjoy getting together at our weekend services to worship together. But we realize that as the church continues to grow it becomes more and more difficult to really feel connected to that many people. Almost all of the adults who attend our worship services will also be meeting during the week in small groups of people in various homes throughout the lakeshore area. The purpose of these groups is to worship and study God's Word together and to develop meaningful and lasting friendships.
ANYTHING ELSE? One of the opportunities that we provide for you to learn more about Harvest is our quarterly PARTY WITH THE PASTORS where you will get to meet our pastors, other newcomers, and some of the church leaders and members. If you are new and considering making Harvest Bible Chapel your church home, please join us for lunch on one of the dates below. It's a great opportunity to meet Pastor Ken and his wife, Renee, the other pastors and their wifes, to learn more about the history and mission of our church, to meet other people new to Harvest, and to ask questions in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Party with the Pastors occurs on select Sundays throughout the year immediately following the morning worship service. Children are welcome and lunch is provided. Interested? SIGN UP!
