WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT? When you pull onto our campus, you’ll be directed to our main parking lot by signs until you meet our friendly parking crew. Come in one of our main entrances and identify yourself as a first time guest to any member of our Welcome Team or Welcome Center volunteers. They'll be able to answer any questions that you have while helping you find your way. [Do you have kids? If so, read below in the What's Available For My Children section.] Restrooms are found near every main entrance for your convenience. Grab a coffee or tea in the cafe and checkout our Resource Center and Welcome Center. If you have any questions, members of our Welcome Team can assist you. Countdown screens in the lobby keep you informed about the start time of worship. As you enter the worship center, our greeting team and ushers provide a bulletin for you, and offer assistance directing you to your seat. Sit back and get ready to engage in passionate vertically-focused worship and bold application-based preaching of God’s Word!
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? We focus on the heart more than the outward appearance. When you come to one of our weekend services, you will find people dressed in a wide variety of styles from as casual as jeans or shorts, to as formal as suits and dresses. COME AS YOU ARE!
WHAT'S AVAILABLE FOR MY CHILDREN? The first time that you bring your children to Harvest, please register them at our Children's Check in with one of our volunteer workers. Any usher, greeter, or team member can direct you there. Harvest Kids ministry is available for newborn children through sixth grade. (Student Ministry, then, welcomes students in grades 7-12!)
After your children join you for the opening worship in our main worship center, they'll be dismissed from the worship center to meet their teachers in our main lobby to go enjoy age-appropriate teaching as you continue to worship in our main worship center. (Please note: every Sunday service we employ a trained volunteer security team who constantly monitor entrances/exits, the worship center activity and walk throughout our facility, with special attention to all children's areas. We take safety of our entire congregation very seriously.)
While your children are enjoying our 'Harvest Kids' ministry, we feature on-screen notifications for you if your young child needs attention (look for the badge number on your check-in receipt; this number will be displayed on all projection and video displays throughout the building).
In our Nursery, we offer childcare for children from birth to 24 months. Our Early Childhood begins at 2 years and goes through to Pre-Kindergarten. We offer an age-appropriate, structured program of worship songs, a Bible lesson with engaging visuals, games and a snack. There will also be some free time for play. Your kids are going to love it!
For students in Elementary School (K-Gr.4) we offer a life-application oriented study of God’s Word complete with worship, small groups, and a Bible lesson.
Our Elementary School ministry for fifth and sixth grade students begins in the adult worship center and until the sermon begins (about 10:35AM) when they are dismissed to go to their class for their Bible lesson.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE WORSHIP SERVICE? Our service begins with worship in song, led by a live band. Most people stand during this time, though you are welcome to just sit and "take it all in". The words of all of the songs are projected onto screens for your participation. The style of our worship here at Harvest would best be described as high-energy and passionate but always grounded and driven by the truth of God's Word.
(If you have children, we invite you to sit with them for the opening worship and announcements portion of our serve before they are welcome to join up with Harvest Kids for the remainder of our morning together. There will be clear direction on the screens as to when this is. (Of course, they are also welcome to remain with you for the entire service as well.)
Like most churches we take an offering at some point in our service. If you are a guest, we welcome you to participate in the offering as God may prompt you, but please don’t feel any pressure from us. This offering is primarily intended for those who consider Harvest their church home.
During our time of brief announcements, you'll see a black 'Connection Pad' come down the row. Please take a minute to let us know more about you and/or your family and how we can be praying for you or serving you in any way. The 'Connection Pad' is simply a way for us to know you were here and how to connect with and serve you best. You will not be singled out or asked to stand or raise your hand or anything else embarrassing so you can relax and enjoy the service. There's no reason to feel uncomfortable!
Harvest provides practical Bible messages that help you deal with real life issues. Typically, we preach from the English Standard Version (ESV) but there's no reason not to bring whatever version of the Bible you use. We'll even give you a outline in our bulletin that will help you interact with the message and make it more personal. What you learn on the weekend, you'll be able to use during the week!
After The Service, if you’re a first time guest at Harvest Bible Chapel we want to meet you! Please stop by GUEST CENTRAL in the lobby to meet a someone from our pastoral staff. If you have any initial questions about what you've seen or heard at Harvest we would love to answer those questions. We look forward to meeting you! Also, don't feel that you have to hurry out the door. Why not grab a coffee and give our friendly church family a chance to meet you? And don't forget to pick up your children from HARVEST KIDS' class before you leave! : )
SO, ONE SERVICE AND THAT'S IT FOR THE WEEK? Not exactly. Harvest is more than a Sunday experience! At Harvest we love our weekend services to worship together, but church is not an event, it's a people. Many of those who attend our weekend worship service will also be meeting during the week in small groups of people in various homes throughout the lakeshore area. The purpose of all these groups is to worship, study and discuss God's Word together and encourage one another through and to develop meaningful and lasting friendships. Often, we also feature extended learning opportunities along the lines of many various topics including "parenting, marriage, biblical counseling, financial budgeting and planning, bible study, men's and women's ministries, etc.
We use the term "discipleship" around here a lot. A disciple of Jesus Christ is one who is committed to growing in spiritual understanding, maturity and a life-giving personal relationship with Jesus. We're 'more than a Sunday'... we're a disciple-making church!
ANYTHING ELSE? One of the opportunities that we provide for you to learn more about Harvest is our quarterly LUNCH WITH THE PASTORS where you will get to meet our pastors, other newcomers, and some of the church leaders and members.
